Below the Surface

I have always been drawn to the beauty of water and how water and humanity are interconnected. Water is an essential part of our lives and all living things. More than sixty percent of our bodies is made up of water. Water moves throughout our bodies like the ebb and flow of ocean tides and currents. It is not until we are born that we first breathe oxygen; until then we live in our mothers' wombs submerged in a sea of amniotic fluid. The ocean is like our subconscious mind. Only five percent of the oceans have been explored; beneath them lie mysteries unknown. All-encompassing, life-giving, beautiful, and powerful--with the potential to destroy, the ocean and humanity are alike. As humans we rely on water for life, but water does not rely on us.
